BURSA Malaysia remained lower at midmorning, with continued selling in selected heavyweights and profit-taking activities.
At 11 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) shed 9.60 points to 1,578.20 from yesterday’s close of 1,587.80.
The benchmark index began the day 1.28 points lower at 1,586.52.
Market breadth was negative with losers outpacing gainers 593 to 187. Meanwhile, 369 counters were unchanged, 1,248 were untraded and 83 were suspended.
Turnover reached 1.58 billion shares valued at RM913.22 million.
Among the heavyweights, Public Bank and IHH Healthcare decreased three sen each to RM4.37 and RM7.15, Tenaga Nasional was weaker by eight sen to RM13.80, Maybank slid four sen to RM10.32, and CIMB tumbled five sen to RM8.01.
Among active stocks, Oriental Kopi Holdings gained 41 sen to 85 sen from its IPO price of 44 sen, Harvest Miracle Capital and Kinergy Advancement added half-a-sen each to 18 sen and 33.5 sen, while Pertama Digital lost half-a-sen to 18.5 sen and Gamuda gave up nine sen to RM4.26.
On the broader market, the FBM Emas Index dwindled 68.54 points to 12,091.03, the FBMT 100 Index trimmed 65.88 points to 11,775.94, the FBM Emas Shariah Index slipped 74.29 points to 11,961.01, the FBM ACE Index fell 8.67 points to 5,229.92, and the FBM 70 Index down 79.36 points to 18,047.44.
By sector, the Energy Index depreciated 7.98 points to 847.04, the Financial Services Index decreased 61.20 points to 18,884.21, the Industrial Products and Services Index edged down 0.77 of-a-point to 169.44, and the Plantation Index reduced 25.23 points to 7,396.47.
