MAXLAND Bhd has announced its diversification into the automotive and utility infrastructure sectors to broaden its revenue base and reduce reliance on existing businesses.
The company plans to enter the automotive sector by distributing, assembling, and fabricating bus bodies, along with providing maintenance services.
In utility infrastructures, Maxland will focus on developing and operating data centers, solar farms, and district cooling systems.
Maxland’s automotive division will operate through its subsidiary Maxland Energy Sdn Bhd, which has signed a distribution agreement with Higer Bus Company Limited to sell and assemble buses in Sabah and Sarawak.
The company also acquired System Enhancement Resources & Technologies Sdn Bhd, which is managing a RM176.82 million contract to supply and maintain buses.
In utility infrastructure, Maxland has formed a joint venture with GDC Data Sdn Bhd, holding a 51% equity stake, to construct and develop data centers in Kulim and Sedenak. A 4.57-acre plot in Kulim Hi-Tech Park has been secured for the project.
The company expects these ventures to significantly enhance its financial performance, contributing at least 25% to the group’s net profits and assets.
The diversifications are targeted for completion by the first quarter of 2025, subject to shareholder approval. — TMR
