MeleTOP countdown at IOI City Mall welcomes 2025 with 30,000 revellers

SOME 30,000 revellers flocked to IOI City Mall for an exhilarating New Year’s Eve soiree, complete with electrifying performances, roaming carnival attractions and a midnight fireworks spectacle that illuminated the heart of Putrajaya as 2024 gave way to 2025.

The highly anticipated MeleTOP Countdown Concert — presented in partnership with Astro — was broadcast live on Malaysian TV for the very first time, marking a significant milestone for both the programme and IOI City Mall.

This inaugural collaboration with MeleTOP underscores the mall’s growing reputation as a destination capable of staging large-scale events that resonate with audiences nationwide.

Summarising its impact, IOI Properties’ Property Investment (M) COO said by hosting top local performers and delivering a memorable community experience, IOI City Mall continues to solidify its reputation as a leading year-end celebration venue.

“This year’s New Year’s Eve celebration was truly one for the books,” Chong said.

A Celebration Like No Other

The festivities kicked off in the late afternoon, transforming IOI City Mall into a carnival-like playground.

Visitors were treated to a variety of food truck delights, along with roaming performances by LED jugglers, magicians and violinists that set the stage for an unforgettable evening.

Fiery pyro acts and interactive entertainment served as a high-energy prelude to the night’s big countdown.

Rocketfuel Entertainment then stepped into the spotlight with a dynamic roster of talents, including Hong Kong Canto-pop star William So Wing Hong, Dr Soo Wincci, Nadeera Zaini, Wani Kayrie, Dennis Lau, Dinda Dania, Evertts Gomes and Azqa Aziz.

Their eclectic performances kept the crowd’s spirits soaring, foreshadowing a night of musical fireworks.

Concert Frenzy Reaches Fever Pitch

The excitement peaked around 10pm, ushering in the official start of the MeleTOP Countdown Concert.

Hosted by the charismatic trio of Nabil, Hawa and Namie, the show opened with rollicking sets by Malaysian chart-toppers Ayda Jebat, Shiha Zikir and Noki K-Clique — leaving the audience wanting for more.

The star power onstage continued to impress, led by commanding performances from Shila Amzah, Aina Abdul, Datuk Ramli Sarip, Hael Husaini and Khai Bahar, alongside a surprise cameo by actor Syafiq Kyle that sent a ripple of excitement through the crowd.

Other standout acts included Fahimi and Firdaus Rahmat, Illa Sabry, Sheila Abdull, Ronnie Hussein, Fairuz Selamat, Rizal Rasid, Naqiu Mohd, Noraniza Idris and Bunga Isme, ensuring fans remained enthralled until the final note.

A Midnight to Remember

When the clock struck midnight, a jaw-dropping, 10-minute fireworks display lit up the skies above Putrajaya, drawing awe-struck gazes and thunderous applause.

Families indulged in a wide variety of F&B options available throughout the mall, while die-hard fans savoured every moment of this once-a-year musical extravaganza.

With a record-breaking crowd, global-calibre performances, and a palpable sense of unity among attendees, IOI City Mall’s New Year’s Eve celebration offered a night that will long be remembered.
