THE Selangor State Government has allocated RM79.95 million for education in 2025, an increase of RM2 million from RM77.95 million in 2024 with RM69.35 million for educational programmes and RM8 million under Iltizam Selangor Penyayang. 

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the Tekad Reformasi Pendidikan programme, a collaboration between the Education Ministry (MOE) and the state government, will be implemented to strengthen education in Selangor.

“Among the programmes focused on in 2025 is the school leadership programme, aimed at building self-confidence, social skills and leadership potential in students. As such, the state government has allocated RM1 million for this initiative.

“Continuing the focus in 2025, there will also be an emphasis on strengthening Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programmes in schools. This effort is crucial to inspire interest in STEM among the younger generation. Therefore, RM1 million has been allocated for the implementation of STEM-related programmes,” he said during the presentation of the 2025 Selangor Budget today.

Amirudin also mentioned a provision of RM4.5 million for religious schools under the supervision of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais).

“This funding will replace essential facilities such as water pipes and electrical wiring that have worn out or become damaged. This will ensure the safety and comfort of students, teachers and staff, ultimately improving the quality of learning and the well-being of all involved,” he said.

Additionally, the Selangor state government has allocated RM10 million for the Selangor People’s Tuition Programme (PTRS) in 2025, with an additional RM3 million to support its continued success.
