WASHINGTON — Online holiday rental platform Airbnb saw profit fall in the third quarter, the company said on Thursday.
The company’s bottom line came in at US$1.368 billion, or US$2.13 per share. This compares with US$4.374 billion, or US$6.63 per share, in last year’s third quarter, reported news agency (dpa).
The company’s revenue for the quarter rose 9.9 per cent to US$3.732 billion from US$3.397 billion last year.
Airbnb co-founder and chief executive Brian Chesky said it was a strong quarter for the company.
“I’m especially proud of the growth across our expansion markets, app bookings, and Guest Favourite listings, and I’m looking forward to another strong holiday travel season.”
Since April 2023, Airbnb had removed more than 300,000 listings “that failed to meet guest expectations”, the company said. — BERNAMA-dpa
