KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) today announced several key appointments for the 2024-2027 term, including the elevation of its Treasurer-General Tan Sri M. Ramasamy (picture) as its new Vice-President effective yesterday.
Party president Tan Sri S.A. Vigneswaran confirmed this when contacted by Bernama, saying that the position of Treasurer-General has now been taken over by Segambut division chief Datuk N. Sivakumar.
“All the individuals appointed will play crucial roles in empowering the party, effective yesterday until the next party elections, which are expected in 2027,” he said.
He also confirmed several other appointments, including Datuk A.K. Ramalinggam as the party’s new Information Chief, Datuk N. Rawisandran as MIC Building Chairman, Datuk N. Muneandy as National Organising Secretary and Datuk Dr. A.T. Kumararajah as Executive Secretary.
In addition, former information chief Datuk R. Thinalan has been given a new role as National Strategy Officer, while Central Working Committee (CWC) member L. Siva Subramaniam has been appointed as chairman of the National Media Bureau.
Early August, Vigneswaran appointed Datuk Dr. S. Ananthan, the Kedah MIC chairman, as the new party Secretary-General. — BERNAMA
