MADACorp CEO apologises for not shaking hands with Mohamad Sabu

ALOR SETAR — Syarikat Perniagaan Peladang MADA Sdn Bhd (MADACorp) chief executive officer Abdullah Ismail has apologised for allegedly not shaking hands with Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu at an event here on Monday.

Abdullah clarified that he had shaken hands with Mohamad as soon as the minister stepped out of his vehicle and accompanied him in greeting other officials.

“While I was escorting the minister, he had extended his hand again to shake hands with me.

“Since we had already shaken hands earlier, I was taken aback and unintentionally did not return his gesture,” he said in a statement here today.

Abdullah said he humbly acknowledged his mistake and hoped that his explanation and apology would be accepted by all parties who were slighted by the incident.

Earlier, a video showing Abdullah seemingly refusing to shake hands with Mohamad during the Sentuhan Madani Programme went viral and garnered reactions from netizens. — BERNAMA
