A WARDEN of a religious school owned by Global Ikhwan Services and Businesses Holdings (GISBH) was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Klang Session Court after a viral video of childrens being tortured today.
Judge Noridah Adam sentenced Muhammad Barur Rahim Hisam (picture), 23, after he pleaded guilty as soon as the four charges were read against him.
According to the four charges, the man is charged as a person who has custody of three boys aged 10 and 11 years old, abusing them by caning and pressing the chest with the knee of one of the victims which may have caused all the victims to suffer physical injuries.
The offence was allegedly committed at two premises in Bukit Raja, North Klang, here in June, July and September 2024.
All charges are brought under Section 31(1)(a) of the Children Act 2001 which provides for a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment or a fine of RM50,000 or both, if convicted.
Muhammad Barur Rahim was also placed on a good behaviour bond for five years with a surety of RM10,000 with one surety.
If he fails to post bond, the accused is ordered to serve six months in prison for each charge.
The court ordered that all sentences start from the date the accused was arrested on September 11 and be carried out separately.
The accused is not represented by a lawyer.
During the appeal, Muhammad Barur Rahim who was on duty as a custodian at Miftahul Hikmah Islamic Primary School run by the GISBH group said he had repented and was determined not to repeat the mistake.
“I am not married but I support my parents, if possible I would like the sentence to be reduced,” he said, who only bowed his head throughout the proceedings. — TMR
