KOTA KINABALU — The formation of Malaysia has brought significant benefits to people across the nation, including Sabah, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor (picture).
He said although the nation-building journey remains long and filled with challenges, there is strong confidence that unity and solidarity would enable Malaysians to overcome these obstacles.
Hajiji also urged all Malaysians to embrace the theme of this year’s Malaysia Day celebration, “Malaysia MADANI: Jiwa Merdeka,” which he described as a crucial reflection of the nation’s prosperity and progress.
“Malaysia MADANI’ is built on six core values that reflect our vision to create a resilient, harmonious and progressive society, while ‘Jiwa Merdeka’ symbolises Malaysians’ freedom from negative elements, emphasising patriotism and love for the country.
“It also focuses on thought, social integration and economic progress as we work towards forging a strong and unified nation,” he said today in his message for the national-level 2024 Malaysia Day celebration to be held here tomorrow.
Hajiji said the Malaysia MADANI values are aligned with the aspirations of Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ), the state’s development framework, underscoring the state’s appreciation of the Unity Government’s dedication to Sabah.
Through this SMJ framework, Hajiji said the state government aims to strengthen the economy, enhance the people’s welfare and promote sustainable development.
“The integration of Malaysia MADANI and SMJ values is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that both Sabah and Malaysia continue to thrive in peace and prosperity.
“In Sabah, we will continue to uphold the spirit of unity and mutual respect across communities as we move forward because unity and harmony are the keys to Malaysia’s success, and Sabah’s in particular.
“Let us all work together to solidify our unity and continue our efforts to ensure Malaysia remains a prosperous, sovereign and respected nation on the world stage,” the chief minister said.
Hajiji also expressed hope that this year’s Malaysia Day celebration would inspire renewed strength and determination in the people as they continue striving for a brighter future for the country. — BERNAMA
