UiTM gains ACCA recognition for excellence in producing certified accountants

SHAH ALAM — The Faculty of Accountancy, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) has been honoured by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for its unwavering dedication and commitment as a longstanding strategic partner.

In a statement today, UiTM said the recognition also serves as an appreciation of the university’s significant role in producing globally competitive certified accountants.

“The strategic partnership between UiTM and ACCA has been longstanding, dating back to 1956, and is in line with the government’s aim to increase the number of certified accountants in Malaysia.

“UiTM has served as a key platform in empowering Bumiputera accountants while also playing a vital role in developing future global accountants,” the statement read.

The accolade was presented by ACCA chief executive Helen Brand during the ACCA Malaysia 88th Anniversary Gala Dinner in Kuala Lumpur, which was also attended by the Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz and Auditor-General Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi.

UiTM also said that in 2010, ACCA recognised the Faculty of Accountancy as a Platinum-approved learning provider, making it the first public university in Malaysia to receive such recognition.

“UiTM is determined to strengthen its strategic and smart partnership with ACCA in an effort to elevate academic excellence and professionalism among accountants in Malaysia,” it said. — BERNAMA
