Pay electricity bills through official channels — TNB

KUALA LUMPUR — Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is advising consumers to be cautious and avoid falling for offers from individuals or third parties who may approach them directly with claims regarding electricity bill payments or discounts.

TNB, in a statement today, said that there are no such discounts are being offered, and the company has not appointed any private agents to manage bill payments on its behalf via phone calls, WhatsApp, or any social media platforms.

“This reminder follows reports from consumers misled by false offers of up to 35 per cent discounts on their electricity bills.

“TNB has never offered such discounts for bill payments. As part of our commitment to be customer-centric, TNB offers secure and convenient payment options for its customers,” the statement read.

It said customers are highly encouraged to pay their electricity bills through official channels including myTNB mobile app, alternative options such as online banking, JomPAY, e-wallet, monthly direct debit or autopay, physical payment locations including kiosks and Kedai Tenaga counters, as well as authorized TNB collection agents such as 7-Eleven, Pos Malaysia and myTNB online portal at (http://www.mytnb.com.my).

“For those with overdue electricity bills, all outstanding payments should be made through TNB’s official channels listed above,” it said.
