Govt reshuffles 12 senior positions in major reform

THE government implemented massive reforms when it announced a restructuring in its administration with 12 senior positions reshuffled.

This includes nine ministry secretary general, a senior deputy secretary general and two DGs effective between today and Sept 23.

Chief Secretary to the State Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said the government’s intention to implement public service reforms led to changes in placement and appointments.

According to Shamsul Azri, the reform measures demand speed, agility and dynamism in the top leadership of the public sector to face the new era of public service following the announcement of the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“It is also a manifestation of the synergy of cooperation between agencies as well as the appreciation of the principle of ‘taat setia (loyalty)’ which places priority on loyalty to the King and the country in realising the government’s aspirations,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Two days ago, Anwar said he wanted the chief secretary to immediately carry out reform measures in public administration.

“You can expect this September to be the month of faster reform movement,” said Anwar.
