THE Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents (MATTA) and the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Aug 13 to enhance industry cooperation and explore new business opportunities.
This partnership will focus on several key areas, including joint initiatives such as the Matta Fair, talent development programmes, and promotional roadshows in support of the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign.
The MoU also outlines plans for sharing insights on sustainable tourism, facilitating member engagements, and co-hosting national and international tourism events.
MATTA president Nigel Wong expressed optimism with the potential impact of this collaboration.
“This partnership with MAH marks a significant step forward in our efforts to further enhance the Malaysian tourism sector,” he said in a statement.
Additionally, he anticipated that by collaborating, both parties can harness their combined strengths to generate more opportunities and advance sustainable tourism practices.
MAH president Christina Toh shared this view, expressing the hotel association’s belief that this partnership with Matta will play a crucial role in elevating Malaysia’s tourism industry.
“By aligning our efforts, we can enhance the experiences we offer to both local and international travellers and contribute to the success of initiatives like Visit Malaysia 2026,” Toh said.
