ALOR SETAR — Kedah Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s mother, Meriam Ahmad, died today while receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) here.
She was 74.
The passing of Meriam was confirmed by the MB’s press secretary Muhamad Mat Yakim.
“Al-Fatihah. The mother of Kedah Menteri Besar, Meriam Ahmad, has breathed her last at 9.40 am today at the HSB,” he told reporters through WhatsApp.
He said the funeral is expected to be held later today in Sik.
Meriam was reported to have been admitted to the ICU on Monday after having a heart attack at home.
Meanwhile, PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man also shared the news on Facebook.
“I would like to convey my condolences to Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi on the passing of his beloved mother.
“I also pray that he would remain patient and resilient in facing this loss and for Hajjah Meriam Ahmad to be forgiven for all her sins, and for her soul to be blessed and placed among the righteous. Amin Ya Rabbal A’lamin,” he posted. — BERNAMA
