ENCORP Bhd has announced the suspension of its group CEO (GCEO), Hazurin Harun, following an internal investigation related to allegations involving the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Encorp’s board confirmed that Hazurin’s powers, authorities, and functions as GCEO have been suspended to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
During this period, the group CFO, Kamarul Azman Kamarozaman @ Amir, will assume the duties and responsibilities of the GCEO on an interim basis.
Encorp stated that its business operations will continue as usual and committed to providing further updates as the situation evolves.
In a separate announcement, Encorp addressed the broader context of the investigation, referencing the MACC’s recent statement about the remand of three of its officers on August 8, 2024.
These officers have been detained to assist with the investigation.
Encorp reiterated its dedication to maintaining high standards of governance and transparency, stating, “Encorp is committed to good governance and transparency throughout this process.”
The company assured stakeholders that it is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to fully support and cooperate with the MACC.
Shares in Encorp fell by 0.5 sen to 26 sen, giving the company a market capitalization of RM80.75 million. –TMR
