DIGITAL Minister Gobind Singh Deo has emphasised the need for preparedness in facing current cyber security challenges and urged all Malaysians to engage in the digital economy.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to cyber security, he pointed to recent legislative efforts including presenting the Cybersecurity Bill in Parliament in February, as well as the recent amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act 2012.

“Moving forward, we will present laws that enable data sharing,” he said at the CyberDSA 2024 opening ceremony today.

Gobind said these steps are part of the government’s strategy to ensure Malaysia is on par with other nations concerning the latest cyber threats.

He also highlighted the significance of the CyberDSA 2042 event, which brings together industry and cybersecurity experts to exchange views on how the government can continue its efforts to strengthen our security ecosystem.

The initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to build confidence in digital platforms and ensure robust cyber security measures are in place as Malaysia navigates the digital future.
