THE Federal Court has set a hearing date for September 10, 2024 in the ongoing tax dispute between Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) and the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRB).
This follows IRB’s motion filed on June 14, 2024 to appeal a RM1.81 billion additional tax assessment issued to TNB for 2018.
Previously, the Court of Appeal upheld a lower court’s decision dismissing IRB’s claim, affirming TNB’s argument that its electricity generation qualifies as manufacturing under Malaysian tax law. — TMR
