Southern Cable secures RM100m contract from TNB

SOUTHERN Cable Group Bhd has secured a RM99.6 million contract from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) to supply various sizes of underground cables and conductors.

The contract, awarded to its subsidiary Southern Cable Sdn Bhd, adds to their existing TNB supply agreement now valued at RM854.3 million.

“We are committed to supporting TNB’s development initiatives through our cable and wire solutions that enable grid expansion, renewable energy integration, and modernization efforts. “Furthermore, the growing demand for our cables and wires, driven by increasing activity in data centres, manufacturing, construction, and infrastructure, presents significant growth opportunities. Our robust production capacity ensures a reliable supply to support various sectors,” its MD Tung Eng Hai (picture) said in a statement.

With this latest contract, the Kedah-based manufacturer’s total orders exceed RM1 billion, providing revenue visibility until 2026.

These orders encompass various products such as cables, wires, rectifier, and battery systems, catering to diverse industry needs.

Additionally, Southern Cable has secured orders totaling RM754.7 million from TNB between 2022 and 2023 and has served as a registered supplier to TNB for over two decades. — TMR
