LOW-COST carrier AirAsia has been selected as the official airline partner for the Malaysia-China Summit 2024 (MCS 2024).
Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (MATRADE) senior director of strategic planning Raja Badrulnizam Raja Kamalzaman stressed the summit’s vitality in fostering investment, trade and cultural linkages.
“Through partnerships with influential business councils and chambers of commerce, we strengthen our collective ability to facilitate trade and investment opportunities.
“AirAsia’s participation as the official low-cost carrier strategically expands the summit’s accessibility to a wider audience, amplifying our impact,” he said at the recent announcement of the partnership.
He believed that MCS 2024 has the potential to generate a multitude of opportunities, resulting in a substantial boost in trade and investment, totalling RM2 billion
Furthermore, the partnership with AirAsia, in conjunction with Tourism Malaysia and the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia, indicates the joint effort to expand opportunities and strengthen ties.
Under the theme “Prosperity Beyond 50”, MCS 2024 intends to honour the long-standing partnership that exists between Malaysia and China while simultaneously paving the way for economic development on both sides.
Set to take place from Dec 17-19, 2024, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), this event will showcase a diverse programme that includes a three-day international trade and investment expo and a two-day leadership conference.
It is anticipated to draw in numerous delegates and exhibitors from the region.
AirAsia group chief commercial officer Paul Caroll saw the collaboration as a strategic partnership, leveraging AirAsia’s ongoing regional expansion, while also expressing the airline’s ambitious goal of returning to pre-Covid sales and operations, using this collaboration as a key driver of recovery and growth.
“We operate direct flight services to 16 destinations from Malaysia to China within AirAsia Group, including exclusive routes.
“In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China bilateral relationships, we are committed to strengthening the ties between the two countries through tourism and further contributing to welcoming the arrival of five million Chinese tourists, as set by Tourism Malaysia this year,” said Caroll.
Additionally, AirAsia would offer special travel bargains to summit attendees, allowing them to book their flights from now until the end of June using the official website of AirAsia or the AirAsia MOVE app at a discount of 10%.
Promotions would apply for travel dates between Dec 9 and 20, 2024.
The promotional routes apply to AirAsia flights to and from major cities across Asia such as Hong Kong, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, in China; Jakarta, Indonesia; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Singapore; Bangkok, Thailand; Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Sihanoukville in Cambodia; Vientiane, Laos; and Manila, the Philippines.
