RANHILL Utilities Bhd expresses deep concern and pledges full cooperation with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) subsequent to the recent arrests of employees from its subsidiary, Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd.
The arrests, occurring on April 29th and 30th, 2024, have prompted Ranhill to take immediate action, including initiating an internal assessment to understand the situation comprehensively.
“We are alarmed and take serious note of the matter. We shall co-operate fully with MACC in its investigation if required. At the same time, we are conducting our own assessment to ascertain the situation and shall take necessary action to safeguard the integrity of our Company,” it said.
On April 29, MACC arrested two high-ranking officers from a “Johor water supply company,” following complaints of bribery and falsification of documents.
The suspects, aged 36 and 40, were detained at the Selangor MACC office.
Allegations include receiving bribes from contractors and submitting falsified documents to secure an allocation of RM3.3 million for an incomplete program.
Affirming its steadfast commitment to upholding ethical standards, Ranhill reiterates its zero-tolerance stance towards any form of fraud, bribery, or corruption within its operations.
“We maintain zero tolerance on fraud, bribery and corruption. We have endorsed the Corruption Risk Management Policy and Procedures which are in compliance with the Adequate Procedures Guidelines pursuant to Section 17A of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009,” it added.
Ranhill further said that it plans to revisit and enhance existing policies and procedures to bolster integrity and transparency within the organisation. — TMR
