INVEST Selangor has introduced the “Selangor Soft Landing Programme” to attract foreign and local investors to explore the dynamic investment and industry opportunities in the state.

The programme aims to solidify Selangor’s position as a top investment destination in the region with support from its partners.

The Selangor exco of investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han said this is a new idea and initiative which was obtained during the Selangor International Business Summit last year where many investors expressed interest in investing in Selangor.

“This is one of the ideas we got from people who do not know much about Selangor and are not sure what kind of support system the state has for them.

“So I feel that through this soft landing programme, we can facilitate investors in conducting research before they make a decision on whether Selangor is suitable for their investment, which is a very investor-friendly initiative aimed at getting to know Selangor better,” Ng said at a press conference.

He said the programme is open to both foreign direct investment (FDI) and domestic direct investment (DDI) which are crucial for Selangor.

The programme will consist of two phases.

Firstly, the pre-investment phase will involve 30 companies, with two representatives from each company who are interested in exploring opportunities with the state.

They can then proceed to the post-investment phase where they can expand their workforce.

The soft landing programme is part of the state’s efforts to boost investment in different sectors like electronics, food and beverage, life sciences, transportation equipment, machinery, logistics services, and digital investments.

The programme also presents four integrated and complementary support initiatives for potential investors in Selangor such as free business ecosystem support; complimentary co-working or office support; discounted rates for talent advisory services; and special corporate rates for accommodation support.

It is anticipated that the programme will attract RM50 billion in investments for Selangor and will be operational from March 1 to Dec 31 this year.
