Felda highlights 5 proposals to revolutionise bumiputera development

KUALA LUMPUR – The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) has highlighted five proposals and resolutions at the Felda 2024 Symposium today that will be presented at the Bumiputera Economic Congress 2024 (KEB24) to revolutionise bumiputera development nationwide.

According to a Felda statement, the proposals were discussed and debated by nearly 200 experts comprising academics, community representatives and industry players in two sessions held in January.

The proposal coincides with the theme Bumiputera Economic Empowerment Through Land Resources for Kumpulan 10 which supports Felda and district land matters, according to the statement.

It said the proposal pertains to three main aspects which involve agricultural transformation to improve national food security, a just transition of the bumiputera economy and land use to drive a high-impact circular economy.

According to Felda, the framework comprises food security, land, and a just transition against a circular economy backdrop, a framework for reforming the Land Act and the circular economy, and a framework for creating a carbon credit ecosystem.

“Felda is optimistic that the high-impact proposals presented in this symposium will also be brought up in KEB24 in end-February and will be used as a government policy to empower bumiputera economy holistically.

“Felda also expressed its willingness to continue as a bumiputera-mandated organisation to ensure success for all policies made under KEB2024,” he said. – BERNAMA / pic TMR FILE
