UPKK Sirah paper rescheduled to Jan 24 – Mohd Na’im

PUTRAJAYA – The Sirah paper for the Quran and Fardu Ain Class Assessment Test (UPKK) which was postponed today, will be conducted on Jan 24, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said.

The rescheduling was prompted by concerns and complaints arising from a previous statement by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) which had rescheduled the Sirah paper to Jan 23.

“Following the decision and statement by Jakim, my office has received numerous complaints from UPKK candidates’ parents who were worried about their children’s ability to handle two exams in one day on Jan 23, 2024.

‘‘Due to concerns and complaints from UPKK candidates and in consideration of their emotions, I have instructed Jakim to reschedule the Sirah subject examination to Jan 24, 2024 (Wednesday),’’ he said in a statement today.

Earlier, Jakim announced the postponement of the Sirah UPKK03/01 paper to Jan 23 (Tuesday) due to unavoidable technical issues.

Mohd Na’im said he was informed by Jakim about a report that a UPKK examination centre had unintentionally violated standard operating procedures (SOP) while handling UPKK examination papers.

Following this, Jakim immediately made a decision and a media statement regarding the postponement of the Sirah UPKK03/01 subject scheduled for today, rescheduling the exam for that subject on Jan 23, coinciding with the examination for the Lughah al-Quran subject.

“Hopefully, with this decision, it can ease concerns among parents and UPKK candidates can fully concentrate on the ongoing exams starting Jan 16,” said Mohd Na’im. – BERNAMA / pic TMR FILE
