PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (picture) is set to reveal his revised Cabinet lineup today at 11am in a special press conference.
Bernama reported Anwar as saying that while his Cabinet will remain smaller than that of the previous administration, it will contain more individuals.
“I will announce it around 10.30am to 11am, and at 2.30pm, I will be at Istana (Negara).
“There is a slight increase, but its size is smaller than the previous government’s Cabinet,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama after attending the monthly assembly at the Finance Ministry.
The rumour of a Cabinet reshuffle has been circulating for months and intensified over the weekend after Bernama chairman Datuk Wong Chun Wai wrote in The Star yesterday, quoting sources that confirmed the matter.
Several key portfolios would see some adjustments, with leaders such as Datuk Seri Johari Ghani from Umno and Gobind Singh Deo from DAP expected to return to the Cabinet lineup.
A “technocrat” will also assume the position of finance minister II.
Other speculations included the possibility of former Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad from Parti Amanah Negara replacing Dr Zaliha Mustafa from PKR, with the latter potentially taking on a lesser portfolio.
Meanwhile, there are rumors of the communications and digital portfolio being divided, with Gobind handling the communication aspect and Fahmi Fadzil retaining the digital part. — TMR
