Rahmah batik sale stimulates craft industry

THE Rahmah Batik Sale was launched on Dec 3 in conjunction with the Malaysia Batik Day Celebration 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing had a walkabout session where he visited each stall to appreciate the local handicraft products and interacted with craft entrepreneurs.

Speaking to the media, Tiong urged Kraftangan Malaysia to be more aggressive in helping local entrepreneurs and improving their skills in order to develop the country’s batik industry and export to the global market.

He also announced that Kraftangan Malaysia will launch a special batik collection in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of Malaysia-China Diplomatic Relations.

The Malaysian Batik Day 2023 was well received by industry players, with 820 batik entrepreneurs from all over the country participating in the Rahmah Batik Sale to promote their unique products.

The Rahmah Batik sale successfully attracted many members of the public and foreign tourists to the Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex.

Also present were Motac Deputy Secretary General (Culture) Mohd Yusri Mohd Yusoff, Deputy Secretary General (Management) Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot and Kraftangan Malaysia Director General Ainu Sham Ramli.
