Exclusive Omakase experience at Nobu KL

Chef Leong, says the inspiration behind the menu is a reminiscent of the magical memories of his own childhood celebrations

NOBU Kuala Lumpur (KL) unveiled its much-anticipated Festive Omakase menu, a delightful fusion of Japanese-Peruvian cuisine with a festive twist on Dec 7.

Japanese food enthusiasts are invited to sample the unique dining experience from Dec 22 until Jan 1 next year. It perfectly captures the enchantment of the holiday season, where each dish serves as a flavourful punctuation mark, bidding adieu to the old year and heralding the new with a burst of culinary delight.

The Malaysian Reserve (TMR) was fortunate to be among the first to experience Nobu KL’s Festive Omakase Menu during its special preview.

Chef Philip Leong, the maestro behind the culinary symphony at Nobu KL, shared the inspiration behind the menu, reminiscent of the magical memories of his own childhood celebrations. 

“This year, at Nobu KL, we’ve infused that nostalgic joy into our Festive Omakase menu, intertwining childhood recollections and holiday cheer into every exquisite dish,” the chef said.

In collaboration with Nobu KL’s head sushi chef Chef Renante Dominguez, the culinary team has drawn inspiration from global celebrations, crafting a harmonious blend of flavours that transcends traditional holiday boundaries. 

“This year, we take pride in encapsulating an experience that not only embodies the warmth of traditional holiday flavours but also embraces the vibrant festive influences from around the world,” Dominguez said.

The Festive Omakase menu showcases star dishes that redefine indulgence. 

The Toro Shiso Chimichurri, a culinary masterpiece, melds premium Toro with fresh shiso leaves and zesty chimichurri, delivering a celestial experience to the discerning palate.

A delightful tribute to festive celebrations, the Shiso Panko Crusted Scallop features plump scallops encased in a golden armour of Shiso-infused Panko, offering a symphony of crispiness that gracefully yields to a tender, oceanic embrace. 

Stepping into the limelight is the A5 Japanese Wagyu Spicy Sansho Pepper pairs velvety A5 Japanese Wagyu with bold and invigorating Spicy Sansho Pepper, melting in your mouth at the first bite.

For the grand finale, the Yuzu Mochi Meringue enchants diners with its cloud-like meringue enveloping yuzu-infused mochi, striking a harmonious balance between citrusy brightness and well-rounded sweetness. 

This dessert, presented with a touch of theatrics, becomes the showstopper that illuminates the festive night skies of Nobu KL.
