TOURISM, ARTS AND CULTURE MINISTER Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing recently participated in a working visit to Sadao, Thailand with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The working visit was at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Thailand Srettha Thavisin, to see the progress of the Road Alignment project which connects the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complex in Malaysia and the Sadao Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex in Thailand.
The visit was also a follow-up to the agreement reached during Srettha’s visit to Malaysia on Oct 11 and 12, 2023.
Among the main matters discussed included the establishment of a joint Malaysia-Thailand task force, cooperation in tourism and border security, among others, to ease tourist movements between both countries.
It shows the commitment to further strengthen the good relationship between the two neighbouring countries, especially in joint developments at the border.
Apart from Tiong, the Prime Minister was also accompanied by an official delegation consisting of several members of the Cabinet as well as senior government officials from relevant ministries, departments and agencies.
