MMHE bags RM1.2b subcontract for first offshore substation platform

Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd (MMHE) announced that its subsidiary, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd, has secured a subcontract worth approximately RM1.2 billion for the first offshore substation (OSS) high voltage direct current (HVDC) platform for the Ijmuiden ver Alpha Project from Petrofac International (UAE) LLC. 

The subcontract covers construction engineering, fabrication, mechanical completion, load out and sea fastening, and architectural works on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis. 

The OSS platform will consist of a topside weighing around 30,000 tonnes and a jacket weighing approximately 10,000 tonnes. 

Additionally, the collaboration may extend to fabrication works for two more OSS units of similar size. 

MMHE will expand the reactivation of MMHE East yard for fabrication works, alongside MMHE West yard, to fulfil this project. – TMR
