TENAGA Nasional Berhad (TNB) has forged partnerships with Huawei and RHB Bank Berhad to foster green energy transitions.
TNB president and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Baharin Din said the partnership with Huawei will accelerate its energy transition agenda by leveraging on digital transformation and tapping into new opportunities in green energy solutions.
“It provides a platform for TNB to modernise its information technology (IT) and telecommunications infrastructure with a focus on sustainability, energy efficiency and advanced communication technology,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, TNB’s partnership with RHB aims to expedite the adoption of renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) solutions among small and medium enterprises (SME) and individuals through green financing solutions.
“This partnership is pivotal in promoting sustainable business practices and advancing our energy transition initiatives.
“It aligns perfectly with TNB’s Net Zero 2050 aspiration and Malaysia’s carbon neutrality target. In this collaboration, TNB will provide technical expertise and supply Solar PV systems, while RHB will offer green financing solutions,” he said.
In the cooperation, TNB intends to offer technical advice on EE and RE solutions, including supplying and installing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to SMEs, with a focus on RHB’s SME customers and TNB’s clients and business partners.
RHB Banking Group meanwhile pledges advisory and financial assistance to facilitate this transition.
To kickstart the initiative, TNB and RHB Bank have planned nationwide engagement sessions, commencing in November 2023 in which the two will introduce energy efficiency technology and renewable energy sources to SMEs.
