SHAH ALAM – A civil servant pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here to a charge of accepting RM10,000 from a company owner in 2018.
Suhaila Md Zaini, 44, was accused of receiving for herself something valuable with no reciprocity from a 34-year-old local man through the woman’s bank account, when it was known that the money had connections with her official duties.
The offence was alleged to have been committed at a bank in Taman Sri Gombak, Batu Caves, Gombak, on July 13, 2018.
The charge under Section 165 of the Penal Code carries a sentence of up to two years imprisonment or fine or both, upon conviction.
Judge Awang Kerisnada Awang Mahmud set bail at RM10,000 and ordered Suhaila to report herself at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office in Selangor once a month.
Deputy public prosecutor Muaz Ahmad Khairuddin prosecuted, while the accused was represented by lawyer Gurmit Singh Hullon.
