T7 Global bags RM21m advanced smart meter supply contract from TNB

T7 Global Bhd has inked a two-year contract with Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) valued at RM21.17 million, spanning from September 29, 2023, to September 28, 2025.

Under the terms of this contract, T7 Global, through its subsidiary T7 Wenmax Sdn Bhd, will supply a total of 79,800 units of single-phase radio frequency smart meters, along with an additional 19,950 units of three phase radio frequency smart meters.

This development represents a substantial stride in TNB’s ongoing efforts to implement the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI).

The AMI project, as stated by T7 Global CEO Tan Kay Zhuin marks a significant technological advancement in the utility sector.

With this system, daily electricity consumption can be accurately recorded and transformed into valuable data. This, in turn, empowers consumers to exercise better control over their electricity usage and, crucially, aids in reducing carbon emissions, aligning with environmental sustainability goals.

Furthermore, T7 Global is not only committed to technological innovation but also dedicated to supporting TNB in its pursuit of Net Zero aspirations.

In line with TNB’s ambitious plans, they aim to install 9 million smart meters by the end of 2029.

Tan Kay Zhuin affirmed the company’s eagerness to remain an active participant in this progressive endeavor, illustrating their dedication to sustainable energy solutions.

The award of this contract is expected to have a positive impact on T7 Global’s financial performance for the years ending December 31, 2023, through 2025. – TMR
