Bursa Malaysia stays positive at midafternoon in tandem with regional peers

BURSA Malaysia stayed positive at mid-afternoon in tandem with the upbeat regional performance.

At 3.02 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 6.87 points to 1,458.81 from 1,451.94 at Wednesday’s close.

The key index opened 9.97 points firmer at 1,461.91 this morning.

The broader market was positive with gainers outpacing losers 453 to 447, while 392 counters were unchanged, 1,034 untraded and 33 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 3.20 billion units worth RM1.96 billion.

Among the heavyweights, Maybank added one sen to RM9.12, Public Bank gained two sen to RM4.25, CIMB perked 10 sen to RM5.73, Tenaga Nasional increased four sen to RM9.88, while Petronas Chemicals eased 10 sen to RM7.02.  

Of the actives, Ekovest and Jaks Resources improved three sen each to 57 sen and 23 sen respectively, Malaysia Resources Corporation widened 4.5 sen to 49.5 sen, Sapura Energy inched up half-a-sen to 5.5 sen, and Iskandar Waterfront City inched up 6.0 sen to 82.5 sen 

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index was 42.81 points firmer at 10,783.51, the FBMT 100 Index added 40.42 points to 10,452.45, the FBM 70 Index put on 18.26 points to 14,301.33, the FBM Emas Shariah Index went up 32.19 points to 10,952.83, while the FBM ACE Index lost 7.64 points to 5,210.33. 

Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index was down 0.10 of-a-point to 171.65, the Plantation Index fell 17.82 points to 6,911.81, while the Financial Services Index strengthened 86.28 points to 16,471.88 and the Energy Index was 12.73 points higher at 848.32. — BERNAMA
