KUALA LUMPUR — The Imam Nawawi’s 40 Hadith Module which will be introduced at National Religious Secondary Schools and Government Aided Religious Schools is crucial in dealing with radicalism and extremism in society.
The Office of the Education Minister in a statement said the Ministry of Education (MoE) is committed to implementing the initiative because it will have a positive impact and provide a true representation of Islamic universal values and their practice in the country’s plural society.
MoE also reiterated that the initiative only involves Muslim teachers and students and will be expanded to other schools to be used only for the Islamic Education subject.
“The implementation of the Imam Nawawi’s 40 Hadith Appreciation Module will not involve non-Muslim students,” read the statement.
It also said that Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek hosted a meeting with 16 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) representing various segments of society yesterday (Aug 29) to discuss the initiative and other matters related to the country’s education.
The session took place in a harmonious atmosphere, reflecting the openness, consensus and commitment of all parties in developing MADANI Malaysia based on the diversity formula within the unity framework, it added.
“Such sessions will be implemented from time to time to convey accurate information about MoE’s initiatives.
“The space for dialogues is also widely opened in line with one of MoE’s main principles, which is to empower communication between the ministry and stakeholders,” said the statement.
The 16 NGOs and one participant involved in the discussion are as follows:
- Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM)
