Mahsuri offers scholarships via Chef Muda Mahsuri

FOR the first time, Mahsuri Food Sdn Bhd is providing almost RM100,000 worth of scholarships to five young chefs who aspire to hone their culinary skills through the Certificate of Attendance in Malay Dishes Course at the Food Institute of Malaysia (FIM) in Petaling Jaya.

According to Mahsuri non-ED Datuk Roslan Mahayudin, the sauces and condiments brand believes in making a positive impact on the local community with a special focus on empowering young talents.

“The scholarships include tuition fees, accommodation and allowances, supporting their seven months of culinary training at FIM and a three-month job placement leading to the certificate.

“It is hoped that through the Chef Muda Mahsuri programme, there will be more professional chefs in Malaysia who can inspire passionate youth to be in the field,” he said at the launch on July 12.

Also present were FIM advisor Chef Moh Johari Edrus, Mahsuri Dagang Sdn Bhd commercial chief Mohd Jazri Ikmal Hijjaz and Chef Wan Group of Restaurants executive sous chef Chef Mohd Nadzri Redzuawan.

The lucky recipients — Fahrin Iskandar Zaidi, 18; Meor Ridhwan Meor Rashidi, 18; Mohd Adib Mukhriz Abu Bakar, 19; Nur Izzah Nadhirah Muhammad Anuar, 18 and Siti Nur Aina Salleh, 18 — will be completing their job placements at several of Chef Wan’s restaurants. — TMR
