Outgoing Selangor top officials to return official car before nomination day

This is to prevent those vehicles to be used for any political functions

THE Selangor’s caretaker administration will stop using their official cars and return it to the state government before nominations for the upcoming state election.

Selangor caretaker Mentri Besar (MB) Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (picture) said this is to ensure the state cars are not used for political functions.

“We will stop using the official cars before nomination day. For now, there are several sub-committee meetings that need to be attended or chaired by the caretaker administration.

“So, a day or two before the nomination announcement is made, the cars will be given back to the state,” the caretaker MB said after meeting civil servants and community leaders at the monthly meeting this morning.

The Selangor government has 11 official Toyota Camry 2.5 cars.

Outgoing Selangor state assembly speaker Ng Suee Lim announced the dissolution of the state assembly this morning and had send the dissolution notice to the Election Commission, effectively making the state Exco as caretaker administrators.

Selangor will be the most watched of the six states having elections within the next two months as the battle is expected to be an intense one.

The Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional government will be bracing for the impact of Perikatan Nasional’s green wave in 15th General Election, as Selangor had 34 Malay-majority seats out of the 56 state constituencies.

Besides Selangor, five other states — Penang, Kedah, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan and Terengganu — will also be having state election within the next two months. – TMR / pic Bernama
