This is following news report that the sales had resulted in a loss of nearly RM160m for the sovereign fund
PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he will discuss the sale of Kidzania Singapore with Khazanah Nasional Bhd, after a report said it had resulted in a loss of nearly RM160 million for the sovereign fund.
“I will discuss the matter with them (Khazanah),” Anwar told the press after attending Friday prayers in Putrajaya today.
On June 12, Singapore’s Business Times reported that theme park operator Sim Leisure Group Ltd (SLG) announced that it has secured an agreement with Sentosa Development Corp to lease 31 Beach View #01-01/02, where the discontinued Kidzania was located, for five years with an option to renew the lease for another five years.
SLG also operates Kidzania Kuala Lumpur since its reopening in 2021.
Earlier today, news portal The Vibes reported that Khazanah and Boustead Holdings Bhd had invested about S$48 million (RM165.52 million) into Kidzania Singapore in 2016, but allegedly sold its stake to SLG for just S$110,000. — TMR
