THE Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) is investigating statements made by Kedah Mentri Besar (MB) Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor (picture), who has demanded that the Federal Constitution be amended to return Penang to Kedah.

The police investigation is being conducted under Section 4 of the Sedition Act 1948, which prohibits any seditious publication or speech.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said part of the police report had been submitted to the Attorney General’s Chambers for further action.

“I have obtained documents including a police report confirming that the MB of Kedah irresponsibly issued several statements.

“Firstly, he demanded that the Federal Constitution be amended to return Penang to Kedah, and secondly, that there is a solid basis that Penang belongs to Kedah.

“As a person with a position, that statement is irresponsible,” Anwar said in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Anwar was responding to a question from Lim Guan Eng (Pakatan Harapan-Bagan) regarding the action taken on the Kedah MB’s request that the Federal Constitution be amended to delete Penang so that it can be returned to Kedah.
