Imran Khan, wife barred from leaving Pakistan, report says

Pakistani authorities have placed former premier Imran Khan, his wife and dozens of party workers on a no-fly list, barring them from leaving the country, a news report said, citing a government official.

The orders from the interior ministry name several former ministers in the embattled opposition leader’s cabinet, according to the report in the Dawn, which cites Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s special assistant on interior and legal affairs Attaullah Tarar.

The report gave no other details. The interior ministry did not immediately respond to Bloomberg’s request for a comment.

The travel ban comes amid high tensions between Khan and the country’s powerful military establishment. –BLOOMBERG
