Selangor BN not ready to contest in PH’s flag, report says

It will create difficulties for its election machinery if the coalition chooses to contest under the PH banner

SELANGOR Barisan Nasional (BN) said they are not ready to use their unity government’s ally Pakatan Harapan (PH) logo for the upcoming state election.

Utusan Malaysia quoted Selangor BN Youth chief Imran Tamrin saying he expected difficulties with their election machinery if the coalition chooses to contest under the PH banner.

“Our cooperation was only established in November 2022, and (our) supporters and leadership at the grassroots level are not yet ready to accept the logo of a coalition other than BN…and I feel it’s the same for PH as well.

“But for me, whatever logo and symbol is used, we need to build our team spirit now and avoid clashing with one another. BN needs to help PH, and PH needs to help BN,” he said as quoted by Utusan Malaysia.

On Monday, PKR central leadership council leader and Selangor Exco Elizabeth Wong said there was no issue for BN using PH’s logo in Selangor.

On the same day, Kedah Umno chief Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid announced both Kedah BN and PH had agreed to use their respective logos on the upcoming state election.
