Mid Valley fire: Electrical supply fully recovers at Mid Valley, Desa Pantai areas

TENAGA Nasional Bhd (TNB) restored supply in the vicinity of Mid Valley City and parts of Desa Pantai following the fire at the Mid Valley Megamall today.

TNB, in a statement today, said that the supply was fully restored around 12:30pm today, after four minutes of interruption occurred in the event of Main Intake Substation there this morning.

“The quick action of the TNB Technical Team was able to restore the electricity supply as early as 10:55am.

“Electricity supply is being restored in stages with the majority of areas affected getting their supplies within an hour and a half,” said the statement.

According to chief grid officer Dev Anandan, TNB’s inspection found the disruption occurred at 10:27am and the supply cut off from 10:51am.

He added that the transport system in KL Sentral was not affected due to getting different sources of supply.

“TNB would like to thank the Fire and Rescue Department for its assistance in putting out the fire. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this supply disruption,” he said again.

The statement added that for any query regarding supply interruption, consumers can contact TNB Careline at 15454.

Earlier today, a fire broke out at the shopping centre, prompting social media users to share pictures and videos of black smoke bellowing in the sky.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said it received an emergency call at 10.32am. Teams from four fire stations arrived on the scene at 10.40am.
