PKR Johor leader Syed Ibrahim made MDEC non-executive chairman

MALAYSIA Digital Economy Corp (MDEC) today announced the appointment of PKR Johor leader and lawmaker Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh (picture) as its non-executive chairman, effective April 1, 2023.

The appointment of the Ledang MP comes on the heels of a slew of recent appointments of politicians to government agencies.

They include former Baling MP Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim being appointed the Kedah Regional Development Authority (Keda) chairperson, former Umno youth leader Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki being made the new chairman of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), DAP’s Charles Santiago as chairman of National Water Service Commission (SPAN) and Amanah’s Datuk Husam Musa as chairman of Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB). 

The others include Parit Sulong MP Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad as Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda) chairman, Umno supreme council member Datuk Dr Shaik Hussein Mydin as Perda chairman, Datuk Jazlan Yaakub as Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra) chairman, Datuk Husam Musa as SPNB chairman and Umno Terengganu chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Said as Central Terengganu Development Authority (Ketengah) chairman.

In a statement today, MDEC said Syed Ibrahim is a graduate of Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA), University of Wisconsin and Master of Business Administration (MBA), St Louis University, US from 1982 to 1988.

It said he has extensive experience in the field of telecommunications for 25 years at Telekom Malaysia from 1989 to 2014.

He is experienced in customer relationship management, project management, marketing and trade sales, segmentation and analysis as well as management of information technology and systems. His last position was as assistant general manager, it added.

Syed Ibrahim also has experience leading Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim), a trust under the prime minister as a member of the board of trustees for a year. – TMR
