LAHAD DATU – A company and its director were charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today with selling uncertified communication equipment five years ago.
Donny Chong Bok Cheung, 41, and Kejuruteraan Megah Maju Sdn Bhd were each charged with selling one unit of Lintratek repeater of the KW 20C-GDW model, which was not certified as required under the Communications and Multimedia (Technical Standards) Regulations 2000.
They allegedly committed the offence at MDLD 5123, KM 3, Jalan Segama, Lahad Datu on Sept 20, 2018.
The charge was framed under Regulation 16 (1)(b) and 16(3) of the Communications and Multimedia (Technical Standards) Regulations 2000 and punishable under Regulation 37, which carries a maximum fine of RM100,000 or up to six years’ imprisonment or both, upon conviction.
The court set Feb 24 to record the plea before the Sessions Court judge and allowed Chong bail at RM3,000 with one surety.
