Decathlon to open outlet in Johor, first outside Klang Valley

SPORTS retailer Decathlon Malaysia will be marking its first foray outside Klang Valley with the opening of its 11th outlet in Johor on Saturday.

Decathlon Malaysia retail leader Karim Cheboub said the new store in Toppen Shopping Centre, here comes with a full-size outdoor futsal court as a covered team sport practice area and has over 5,000 exclusive products covering more than 60 sports.

He said the new store also has the biggest camping and mountain gear area among other Decathlon stores; paired with a multitude of Decastudios available at the store and a healthy food cafe by Fuel Good by Agrain.

“In a bid to fulfil this vision, our largest lifestyle store on one floor in Johor Baru is the first store in Malaysia to offer a 360° experience, where sports, lifestyle and dining are available, all under one roof.

“This first store launch outside the Klang Valley is also our first step to many more store openings planned this year,” he said in a press release today. 

In conjunction with the grand opening, Decathlon Malaysia is hosting its maiden sports festival, Hari Sukan Decathlon, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the outdoor area of Toppen Shopping Centre.

Open for everyone for free, the two-day event would be abuzz with activities covering all sports from mega-workouts by Manic Studio, mega-yoga, mega-Zumba and mega-Kpop X dance by Yo Studio, mega-boxing, running, horse riding, pushbike competitions, football and futsal by Yayasan JDT, and various performances from 10am to 10pm. – Bernama / pic credit: Decathlon
