T7 GLOBAL Bhd has been awarded a contract to upgrade the baggage handling system (BHS) at Terminal 1 KL International Airport.
In a Bursa announcement today, it said its unit, T7 Kemuncak Sdn Bhd, in cooperation with Siemens Logistics Pte Ltd was awarded the project that comprises design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a state-of-the-art BHS.
It said that the new BHS will feature the efficient Siemens Logistics VarioBelt, belt conveyor.
With VarioStore, it said Terminal 1 is receiving a modern Early Bag Store (EBS) that will give the airport a storage capacity of 2,500 bag positions, which is higher than the current storage capacity.
It noted that the EBS enhances the processing of transfer baggage and allows passengers to check in earlier.
“This marks another milestone for our construction division to expand our horizon in the airport logistics business,” said T7 Global CEO Tan Kay Zhuin, adding that the project will be executed in three sections while the airport is in operation.
It said that Siemens Logistics will provide the latest conveying technology including VarioTray to boost the baggage throughput.
The VarioTray, high-speed conveyor system connected between the Main Terminal Building and Satellite A, will enable bags to be transferred swiftly and securely between the two buildings.

The project management team has the competency to deliver the project in a live airport environment without intervening the daily airport operations.
“The board envisages that the award will contribute positively to the earnings and net assets of the company for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023 to Dec 31, 2025,” it said. ― TMR/pic source: Siemens Logistics
