The MoU will help set Progressture Solar as a key service provider for local and multinational companies’ transition to net-zero carbon emissions

HUAWEI Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Progressture Power Sdn Bhd (Progressture Solar) and JJ-Lapp (M) Sdn Bhd to develop projects in renewable energy, green information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure, energy savings and emission reductions to jointly accelerate the green digital transition in Malaysia.

The MoU will help set Progressture Solar as a key service provider for local and multinational companies’ transition to net-zero carbon emissions.

In the drive towards sustainable development goals in the country, the MoU will see the three parties utilise and share their combined capabilities within the renewable energy sector to deploy reliable green infrastructures and technology, reiterating their commitment and support to accelerate Malaysia’s progress towards carbon neutrality by 2050. 

Additionally, the partnership between the three companies is aimed to become the go-to solution for digital energy transitions, specifically for commercial and industrial (C&I) clients.

With this collaboration, Progressture Solar will invest heavily in the ownership and development of clean energy assets, including solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for businesses, electric vehicle (EV) charging network solutions, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and green data centre facilities.

JJ-Lapp will be the product partner for Progressture Solar, providing the delivery of green products and solutions to meet the needs of C&I clients, while Huawei Malaysia will bring its expertise as a ICT solutions provider to manufacture and equip the technical infrastructure for the tripartite venture.

The MoU was signed by Progressture Solar co-founder and COO Ng Yew Weng, JJ-Lapp GM Chang Chee Keong and Huawei Malaysia VP of Digital Power Business Group Chong Chern Peng.

Ng said Progressture Solar believed in meaningful partnerships that can harness the power of technology in addressing environmental challenges. 

“Huawei and JJ-Lapp are supporting us in providing these technological solutions for businesses to adopt green practices while reducing their carbon footprint.

“This strategic partnership also fortifies our shared commitment to leverage clean technologies to reduce emissions and aid in our nation’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050,” he said in a statement today.

He noted that with the urgency to combat climate change, businesses are and will be subjected to both local and global environmental standards, including Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions. 

He added that the challenge for many is knowing where or how to start their sustainability journey and being able to meet their commitments. 

“This partnership paves an extensive way for us to deliver more robust, comprehensive, and clean energy solutions, from solar PV systems, BESS, EV charging, and green data centres. 

“With these solutions, we aid businesses to seamlessly transition to clean energy, decarbonise, strengthen their ESG profile, and ultimately move towards a greener economy,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chang said as a preferred and value-added partner of this collaboration, his company is committed to providing reliable and sustainable solutions as well as services to achieve the goal and mission of carbon neutrality.

“It has become the joint mission of JJ-Lapp, Huawei and Progressture Solar to ensure our collaboration delivers our solutions, technologies, products and services to the commercial, industrial and residential segments towards realising the goal of carbon neutrality,” he added.

Chong also acknowledged that the strategic partnership demonstrates Huawei Malaysia’s commitment to supporting its customers in finding clean energy technology solutions to spur environmental-friendly initiatives.

“We believe we can deliver comprehensive solutions that meet the expectations of our customers with a shared vision and commitment to bring forth power solutions that collectively deliver a greener, more sustainable operational environment as part of energy transitions. In the long run, with a robust portfolio of solar projects, we will be able to establish a recurring income stream,” he said.
