Genting Malaysia fails in Macau gaming licence bid

GENTING Malaysia Bhd has confirmed that its bid for a new 10-year gaming concession for the operation of casino games of fortune in Macau was unsuccessful.

“Genting Malaysia wishes to announce that GMM SA has not been successful in its bid,” the group told the stock exchange yesterday.

“Nonetheless, Genting Malaysia would like to express its appreciation to the Macau SAR (Special Administrative Region) government for the opportunity to participate in the bid process,” it added.

Genting Malaysia announced the submission of its bid via its indirect subsidiary GMM to the Macau government in September this year.

Genting Malaysia closed two sen or 0.76% higher at RM2.66 a share yesterday, translating into a market capitalisation of RM15.8 billion. — TMR / pic BLOOMBERG
