Catch CIMB Artober Hotel Art Fair this weekend at Element KL

ART fans (and buyers), head on over to Element Kuala Lumpur (Element KL), in the heart of the capital city, for the Second CIMB Artober Hotel Art Fair.

Featuring a curated collection of over 70 artwork pieces from six different artists, namely Alya Hatta and Leily Moghtader Mojdehi, Fariza Basri, Haris Rashid, oodplex and Peisy Ting. The artworks are displayed in the guest suites of the hotel, converting them into mini galleries.

The artworks, embodying a range from surrealism paintings to abstract renderings, are vibrant, fun, quirky and contemporary with an accessible price point, allowing younger audiences the opportunity to start their own art collection.

According to Harris, his last art exhibition was back in 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic and the art scene then was very different.

“I am thrilled to be part of the CIMB Artober Hotel Art Fair 2022, which is an exciting weekend-long event for the local art scene.

“I am fortunate to continue producing art and to present a new collection titled ‘kamarimba’, which is inspired by my own bedroom, a safe space for contemplation and dreaming.”

“Lucky 6” and “kamarimba” by Haris at the art fair consist of paintings and sculptures, with prices ranging from RM250 to RM20,000.

Meanwhile, Zhan Art | Space founder and curator Desmond Tong said the gallery is pleased to be part of the show from Nov 24 to Nov 27 at Element KL.

“We are honoured to be part of the CIMB Artober Hotel Fair 2022 and delighted that Cendana (Cultural Economy Development Agency) is supporting the event.

“In line with CIMB (Group Holdings Bhd’s) vision to make art accessible to a younger audience, the gallery hopes the curated artworks from different styles and genres would appeal to them. We hope that this will generate more interest and appreciation towards the arts and garner stronger support for our local artists.”

The art fair is part of the programme under CIMB Artober, which returns for the third year to revitalise Malaysia’s contemporary art scene. CIMB Artober highlights some of the most creative and progressive artistic minds in painting and visual art, making it the perfect partner for the gallery to enhance and empower the local art scene. — by TMR
