Ranhill clinch vessel design contract worth RM124m

RANHILL Utilties Bhd has bagged a US$27 million (RM124.1 million) contract to perform detail design engineering (DDE) for Petroleo Brasileiro SA.

The contract was executed between its unit, Ranhill Worley Sdn Bhd, and Sembcorp Marine Integrated Yard Pte Ltd on Nov 4, 2022.

The project is to undertake the DDE of a new P-82 floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, P-82.

The newbuild FPSO will be one of the largest vessels to be deployed in the Buzios field, an ultra-deepwater oil and gas field covering an area of 853 km² in the pre-salt Santos Basin, about 180km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

P-82 is part of Petrobras’ new generation of production facilities, characterised by their high production capacity and the technologies utilized to reduce CO2 emissions. The unit will also be equipped with water injection capacity of 250,000 barrels per day and a storage capacity of two million barrels of oil.

Ranhill said the DDE phase is expected to take 14 months with follow on engineering support thereafter.

Ranhill said the project is expected to contribute positively to the group’s revenue and earnings for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023. ― TMR/graphic by TMR
