HUAWEI Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd’s contribution towards the country’s digital transformation and 5G cyber security development has earned it a Special Award from CyberSecurity Malaysia.
CyberSecurity Malaysia CEO Datuk Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab said a cyber security strategy cannot be effective without everyone playing their individual parts.
“This must involve a change of mindset that involves a culture of cyber security, built upon good security education, tools and measures,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
He appreciated that renowned global companies like Huawei are working with agencies like CyberSecurity Malaysia and industry partners to address cybersecurity and privacy challenges.
Meanwhile, Huawei Malaysia board director Gaoqiang explained that Huawei has maintained robust performance alongside the development of the digital economy across industries as the company aims to be a key contributor to Asia Pacific’s digital transformation.
“With rapid digitalisation and new technologies, the digital world has become more complex than ever.
“Hence, all parties must work together to build a reliable digital environment with adequate cyber security and privacy protection strategies in place that are able to handle the challenges of today and tomorrow,” he said.
On behalf of Huawei, he pledged to serve Malaysia to the best of its ability and to work hard to spearhead efforts to help position the nation as the Asean Digital Capital.
The award was presented by Ministry of Communications and Multimedia secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek at the 13th CyberSecurity Malaysia Awards, Conference & Exhibition 2022.
It was held from Oct 17 to 21 with the aim to offer collaborative opportunities through conference and sector-specific roundtable sessions in innovative cyber security and technology.
To date, Huawei has collaborated with telecommunications operators, exploring new opportunities for information and communications technology over the past 21 years, since it set foot in Malaysia.
