UNISEM (M) Bhd’s net profit for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2022 (3Q22) jumped 53.3% to RM61.73 million compared to RM40.27 million in the same period last year.
The global provider of semiconductor assembly and test services’ revenue for the quarter also rose 20% to RM439.69 million from RM366.36 million a year ago, according to its exchange filing today.
As a result, the group registered a higher earnings per share (EPS) of 3.83 sen for the period against 2.5 sen previously.
Unisem has also approved a second interim dividend of two sen per share tax-exempt for 3Q22. The dividend will be paid on Nov 23, 2022.
For the cumulative period of nine months, Unisem recorded a higher net profit of RM318.28 million from RM140.32 million, while revenue rose 16.7% to RM1.33 billion from RM1.14 billion previously.
Overall, the group attributed the improvement in revenue and net profit to better average selling prices coupled with the appreciation of US dollar against ringgit and US dollar against yuan exchange rates.
On prospects, Unisem said it expects the performance of the group to be satisfactory for the next financial quarter.
At the time of writing, Unisem’s share price was up two sen or 0.83% to RM2.44, valuing the group at RM3.94 billion.
